Class Description: Learn to make three different, but equally classic styles of hoop earrings using sterling silver and 14K gold-filled wire. This class features two earring styles that do not require any soldering whatsoever, and one that is a great introduction to basic soldering. The techniques you'll learn are as classic as the earrings you’ll make.

Instructor: Scott Mason and Phyllis Flora

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials Kit (included in price): Sterling silver and 14K gold-filled wire, tube bezel, CZs, and polishing pad (kit includes enough materials to complete all three of the earrings pictured) Domestic US shipping.**

Required Tools:  

  • Chain nose pliers
  • Round nose pliers
  • Flat nose pliers
  • Flush cutters
  • Heavy duty cutters
  • Bench block
  • Rawhide or nylon mallet
  • Chasing Hammer
  • Texture Hammer
  • Sanding sticks
  • Steel hoop mandrel
  • Dremel, flex shaft, or drill press
  • Center punch
  • Drill bit #56 (1.02mm)
  • Cut Lube or beeswax
  • Stone setting tools (e.g. curved burnisher or bezel rocker)
  • Liver of sulphur (optional)
  • Bronze or steel wool (optional)
  • Solder Set-up,
    • medium or easy solder.
    • Torch
    • Fireproof surface (e.g., Solder board and/or charcoal block)
    • Quench bowl
    • Pickle
    • Solder pick
    • Cross-lock tweezers (secure transfer of hot items from solder board to quench bowl)
    • Flux
