Class Description: Today we will make a beautiful ring that you will love wearing on summer vacation: an open seashell cradling an elegant pearl. You will learn how to modify a molded shape to make it unique to you, as well as ring construction, including how to calculate shrinkage. Finally we will learn how to securely set a pearl in metal clay.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Materials Kit: Art Clay Silver, small pot of paste. Re-useable seashell mold, setting for the pearl, 10 mm pearl (choice of color, instructor will contact after registration), teflex strip, sanding sponges, fiber blanket.

- Basic Metal clay tool kit
- roller, 10 playing cards, scalpel, tissue blade, fine paintbrush, fluffy paintbrush, sanding sponges and straight salon boards (nail file) of different grits, cup of water, cup of olive oil, piece of Saran wrap/cling film.
- Drying set up, such as a mug warmer, food dehydrator or kitchen oven.
- Brass or steel brush
- Ring mandrel
- Ring sizer
- Scotch tape
- Liver of sulfur patina, if desired.
