Class Description: Have an unusual stone that you have been itching to use but just cant use because its too pretty? Learn how to set an unusual stone that is flat on the bottom using prong and a type of channel setting.

Instructor: Robyn Cornelius

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Materials Kit: Sterling silver wire, sterling silver sheet, sterling silver tubing, gemstone. Domestic US and Canadian shipping included in kit fee. (Please contact instructor directly to arrange for international or expedited shipping.)*

  • Chain nose pliers
  • Round nose pliers
  • Flush cutters
  • Half-round pliers 
  • Sharpie, fine tip
  • Anvil 
  • Jewelers’ saw & 3/o
  • Bench pin
  • Cut lube
  • Rawhide or nylon mallet
  • Needle files
  • Goldsmith or riveting hammer
  • Hand file flat
  • Sanding stick
  • Brass brush & dish soap
  • Third arm
  • Tweezers
  • Fine-tipped felt marker
  • Paper & glue stick
  • Divider
  • Drill bit 0.8mm diameter
  • Ball bur 2mm and 3mm round
  • Optional: jewellers’ epoxy
  • Flux (liquid)
  • Sandpaper 320- or 400-grit
  • Handheld rotary tool (Flex-shaft, Foredom, Dremel or similar polishing machine)
  • Buffs, tripoli & rouge polishing compounds
  • Toothbrush
  • Solder Set-up, including silver solder
  • Safety glasses
  • Magnifying glasses and Ott light as needed
