Class Description: Learn how to create a stunning tension band ring, where a faceted gemstone appears to float effortlessly between the ends of a sleek metal band. In this workshop you will learn to set a faceted gemstone using the natural tension of metal. No prongs or bezels required.
Project Completion: Students will have enough time to finish the project during the class time.
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using an acetalyne torch, however, any butane torch will work.
Materials Kit: Enough material for one ring (sterling silver stock, gold or bronze wire, synthetic or lab grown gemstone).

Required Tools and Supplies:
- Sharpie
- Chain nose pliers
- Half round pliers
- Nylon pliers
- Rawhide mallet or Nylon mallet
- Needle files
- Jewelers’ saw
- Saw blades (3/o)
- Cut lube , Bur Life or bees wax
- Bench pin
- Polishing Compound
- Steel ring mandrel
- Ring sizer
- Flex shaft
- Flex shaft bits: 1mm drillbit, 2.5mm ball bur.
- Steel wool
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Sanding sticks
- Solder pick
- Jeweler's torch of any kind
- Soldering set up: solder board, tripod with mesh, pickle, fire tweezers, quench bowl, flux, copper tongs, silver solder of any kind: Hard, Med. Easy
