Class Description: Everyone loves hoop earrings! These fine silver metal clay hoops are elevated with the addition of gold using the easiest ever method of adding gold to silver—pen plating. They’re easy enough for beginners but sophisticated enough for anyone!
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using a butane torch.
Project Completion: This will be quick and easy. Come watch and learn.
Materials Kit: Art Clay silver (lump), Art Clay silver syringe, 20-gauge sterling silver wire, optional gold pen plating solution (+$40).

- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers

- Side cutters
- Brass brush
- Bench block
- Scratch brush
- Ruler 6"
- Student file
- Nylon mallet
- Sanding sticks
- Stepped ring mandrel (optional)
- Hoop mandrel (optional)
- Two-hole draw down punch
- Fine tweezers
- Needle files
- Magnesia block
- Soldering set up includes: solder board, fire tweezers, quench bowl, butane torch.
- Flex shaft including: silicone polishing bits, 3M radial bristle discs, all optional
- Needle tool or awl or toothpick
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Basic metal clay set up: roller, non stick work surface, 10 playing cards or depth measuring slats, scalpel or Xacto knife, fine paintbrush, fluffy paintbrush, sanding sponges and straight salon boards (nail file) of different grits, cup of water, release agent (cool slip, olive oil), piece of saran wrap/cling film.
- Patina liver of sulfur
- Drying set-up such as a mug warmer, food dehydrator or kitchen oven.
- Spray bottle with water (distilled preferred)
- Texture plate
- Small round form (an Art Clay paste jar is perfect.)
- Pen plater
