Skill Level: Intermediate
Pre-requisite: Must have previous soldering experience.
Class Description: There are many approaches to prong settings, this class will present yet another. Although I will show you an easier way to solder prongs, you will still need steady hands and a good understanding of soldering silver.
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using a butane torch, however, any jewelers' torch except a MicroTorch will work.
Project Completion: Students will have enough time to finish the project during the class.
Materials Kit: Enough material for one pendant (sterling silver stock, semi-precious stone). Please indicate stone choice, if none is chosen, one will be chosen for you.

- Large wood U-channel or 1.25” dowel rod or ring mandrel
- Jewelers’ saw
- Saw blades (2/o or 3/o)
- Cut lube
- Bench pin
- Third hand
- Magnesia block (must have)
- Honeycomb soldering block with pins
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Self-tapping center punch
- Flexshaft or pin vise with any size drill bit for piercing a hole.
- Patina (indicate type) LOS and or Black Max
- Sand paper (indicate grit) 600/500/400
- Super grip gloves (optional)
- Steel wool
- Rotating solder station (optional)
- Solder pick
- Shape template of choice
- Acetylene torch, propane torch, or butane torch
- Soldering set up: butane, torch, solder board, tripod with mesh, pickle, fire tweezers, quench bowl, flux, copper tongs, silver solder paste, wire or chip: Hard, Med. Easy
