Skill Level: Intermediate
Class Description: In this class join Jenn as she shows how to not only create form with dapping but then to embellish it with a quick way to create additional volume and texture! Then we will take our decorative dapped piece and turn it into a pendant/brooch combination piece with a handmade pin stem and bail. Optional patinas and inks will be demonstrated for those who love color!
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using an Blazer Big Shot. A large butane torches, fuel/air (Silversmith, Orca, etc) or dual fuel torches (smith little, meco midget, etc) will also work. Small butane torches such as a Blazer stingray will not be powerful enough.
Project Completion: Students will have enough time to finish the project during the class.
Materials Kit: Enough material for one brooch (copper sheet, sterling silver sheet, stainless steel wire, brass round wire, nickel round wire).

- Jeweler's saw with 4/o blades and Cut lube
- Bench pin
- Wood dap set- must have depression in the block 1.5”- 1.75”
- Vice- bench vise secured to surface with 3” or larger jaws
- Flexshaft with: snap on sanding disc (medium and fine), snap on mandrel, pink silicone wheel and mandrel.
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Patina LOS or Jax
- Solder pick
- Any torch (except MicroTorch or Blazer Stingray)
- Soldering set up: solder board, pickle, fire tweezers, quench bowl, flux, copper tongs, silver solder sheet, chip or paste:Hard, Medium, Easy.
