20-24.02 A Look Inside

Skill Level: Intermediate

Pre-requisite: Familiarity with metal clay, as well as experience soldering, would be helpful.

Class Description: Unlock the secrets of craftsmanship in 'A Look Inside' class, where you'll master the art of Metal Clay techniques to create a dimensional pendant featuring a captivating scene. You’ll dive into the creative process as you learn to expertly layer, carve, and combine Metal Clay with various other techniques, bringing your unique vision to life.

Project Completion: students will have time to complete the project during class time.

Materials Kit: Fine silver metal clay, inlay stones, gold leaf.

Required Tools:  

• Sharpie
• Brass brush
• Magnifying glasses (as needed)
• Basic metal clay set up: roller, non stick work surface, 10 playing cards or depth measuring slats, scalpel or Xacto knife, fine paintbrush, fluffy paintbrush, fine paintbrush, sanding sponges and straight salon boards (nail file) of different grits, cup of water, release agent (cool slip, olive oil), piece of saran wrap/cling film. 
• Drying set-up such as a mug warmer, food dehydrator or kitchen oven

• Dome form for drying

   

• Circle cutters 2” - 3/4” in size

   

• CA glue and accelerator

• Texture mats 
• Torch firing set up: butane torch, solder block (or the like), fire tweezers, quench bowl.
• Liver of sulfur
