Skill Level: Intermediate
Class Description: Controlled reticulations takes patience and a little bit of skill. Through a serious of firings we will create an organic texture to create interest in sterling silver. This project is the perfect for those who like to “melt” silver. Students will have the option to choose either a ring or bracelet...or both.
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using a pistol torch (butane), anything but a "Blazer" type torch will work. If you are opting to make a bracelet, you must have a larger torch such as a pistol torch.
Project Completion: students will have enough class time to finish the ring project.
Materials Kit: Silver stock.

Required Tools:
- Sharpie
- Hand hole punch of any size or a drill bit on a flex shaft
- Fine tweezers (optional)
- Metal shears
- Brass brush
- Metal ruler 6” or longer if making bracelet
- Bench block
- Chasing hammer
- Rawhide mallet or Nylon mallet
- Needle files
- Jewelers’ saw
- Saw blades (2/o)
- Cut lube or bees wax
- Bench pin
- Steel ring mandrel
- If making a bracelet: bracelet bending pliers, bracelet mandrel, or bracelet bender.
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Fine tweezers
- Patina LOS or BlackMax
- Flex shaft
- Flex shaft bits: sanding discs, brass brush(optional),
- Solder pick
- Any torch other than a Blazer type torch.
- Soldering set up: solder board, tripod with mesh, pickle, fire tweezers, quench bowl, flux, copper tongs, silver solder of any kind: Hard, Medium, Easy.
*Note: You must choose either a Zoom or Zoom/Kit combo to receive written instructions. Kits will begin to ship April 3, 2024, unless otherwise arranged with instructor.
