Instructor: Katie Baum

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Description: Texture, shape, color, and movement come together in this pendant for a truly unique piece. The main pendant body is textured with a design to compliment the dichroic glass, and is split down the center showing open space above and below the glass cabochon. Fine silver wire is embedded and will be an attachment point for multiple independent dangles, including one with a carefully set faceted gemstone, for a pop of moving color. The pendant body is embellished as desired to both hold and hide the embedded wire, and a uniquely constructed hidden bail provides proper support and ensures the piece balances properly while worn. This class will be split into 2 specific sessions: the creation of the pendant, and then the finishing and attachments post-firing. This piece does need to be fired in a digitally programmable kiln, with specialty settings due to the included dichroic glass. Instructor will contact students in advance for options and ability to select cabochons and gemstones to best fit the students’ styles.

Project Completion: Students who work quickly will have enough time to finish the project during the class time.

Torch & Kiln: Instructor will be demonstrating using a butane micro torch, however, any jeweler's torch will work. A kiln will be needed to complete this project.

Materials Kit: Enough material for one pendant (Art Clay Silver, .999 silver wire, .999 silver bail back, dichroic cab, 5mm faceted CZ, snap-lid paste jar)
