Instructor: Katie Baum

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Description: The moon has played a role in countless cultures across millennia, inspiring everything from origin stories to physical artwork. Here, we begin with a traditional crescent moon shape, then build upon it for a one-of-a-kind piece that expresses exactly the artisan’s style. Each moon is decorated with tiny dichroic glass cabs for a gentle splash of color, as well as silver scrollwork for a taste of individuality and contrast. The orientation of the moon may also be adjusted to help achieve the look the artist is hoping for. If desired, small embellishments may be dangled from the moon, adding eye-catching movement to each piece. Due to the included glass, pieces need to be fired in a digitally programmable kiln. For any student without kiln access, these pieces can be made without glass, or glass can be substituted for fireable gemstones, rendering the pendants torch-fireable. Instructor will arrange color preferences with students prior to shipping class kits.

Project Completion: Students who work quickly will have enough time to finish the project during the class time.

Kiln: A kiln will be needed to complete this project.

Materials Kit: Enough material for one pendant (Art Clay .999 Silver clay, Art Clay .999 Silver syringe, dichroic cabs, .999 silver eyelets, project template)
