Class Description: Discover the art of stone carving with this beginner-friendly carving class! Learn to carve soapstone, the softest carving stone in the world, available in a stunning variety of colors. Perfect for first time carvers, you’ll learn all the basics following along in our step by step instructions to carve your very own animal. A creative and rewarding experience for anyone curious about stonework. Stone colors vary and are a total surprise when you oil your carving at the end of class!
Project Completion: Students will have enough time to finish the project during the class.
Materials Kit: Enough material for one (soapstone cut out, carving rasp, 3 stages of sandpaper, finishing oil). Choice of template: grizzly bear, polar bear, eagle, wolf, owl, loon, cat, fox, orca, whale, sea turtle, bison, rabbit, beaver, seal, fish, shark, t rex, triceratops, stegosaurus, butterfly, brontosaurus, dolphin.
