Class Description: Discover the magic of Paper Batik, a creative resist painting technique that transforms ordinary paper into richly textured artwork with a batik-like effect. In this demo class, you will how layers of colour, black ink and a simple washing process work together to reveal beautiful crackled textures and hidden designs. A fun and engaging introduction for beginners, art enthusiasts, and anyone curious about a unique painting technique on paper.
Project Completion: Come watch and learn.
Required Tools and Supplies:
- Handmade paper, 200/300 gsm, cold pressed and acid-free
- Acrylic Paints
- Palette
- Round Brushes for watercolors, Sizes 000 to 12
- Flat Brush 1 inch wide
- HB 0.7 mm Mechanical Pencil/ drawing pencil
- Eraser
- 12-inch Ruler
- Paper knife
- Black waterproof ink
- Plastic tray, large enough for your paper, 1.5-2" deep
- Flat-bottomed water container (e.g., plastic takeaway box)
- Paper towels
- Tracing Paper to transfer the design if required
- Steel Spoon (for transferring designs)
