Class Description: Not all stones are meant for traditional settings. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to design and fabricate custom sterling silver caps to securely and elegantly "top off" any gemstone, turning unique stones into a stunning pair of finished earrings.
Project Completion: Students who work quickly will have enough time to finish at least one earring during the class time.
Torch: Instructor will be demonstrating using a butane torch, however, any jeweler's torch will work.
Materials Kit: Enough material for one pair of earrings (Sterling silver stock, semi-precious stones).

Required Tools and Supplies:
- Sharpie
- 2-part epoxy
- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
- Flat nose pliers
- Nylon pliers
- Heavy duty side cutters
- Bench block
- Rawhide mallet or Nylon mallet
- Student files
- Needle files
- Polishing Compound
- Tumbler with jeweler's shot
- Brass brush
- Solder pick
- Jeweler's torch of any kind
- Soldering set up: solder board, tripod with mesh, pickle, fire tweezers, quench bowl, flux, copper tongs, silver solder of any kind: hard, medium, easy.
- Magnifying glasses (as needed)
- Sand paper: 400, 500, 600 grit
